[»Postmeister«], der Name (gleichzeitig E-Mail-Adresse nach dem Schema postmaster@Host-Name) einer Stelle, die für die Verwaltung von E-Mail-Diensten auf einem Mail Server zuständig ist. Meist ist der Postmaster eine reale Person, die für den reibungslosen Versand von Mails sorgt, z. B. eine falsch adressierte Mail mit einer entsprechenden Mitteilung an den Absender zurückschickt. Wird diese Aufgabe automatisiert erledigt, spricht man von einem Dämon.
 
Postmaster heißt auch ein E-Mail-Programm (Mail Client) für das Betriebssystem BeOS.
